thrust faulting

Ductile thrust faulting and large-scale fold nappes produced
when the Archean Wyoming and Superior provinces collided
during the Paleoproterozoic Trans-Hudson orogeny. These
outcrops along the Laramie River of southeastern Wyoming
contain well exposed complex thrusts resulting in interlayering
of granitic gneiss and amphibolite.

thrust fault surfaces

Students examining the thrust fault surfaces.

fold patterns

Complex fold interference patterns produced during formation
of the fold nappes.
