From the summit of East Beacon, Southern Victoria Land, Antarctica: Alan Whittington is investigating the flow directions of intruding dolerite sheet intrusions in the Jurassic Ferrar Igneous Province. Glaciers have carved excellent exposures of these sills, with several thousand feet of relief.
One of the helicopters that took us to and from some of the more distant outcrops, taking off from our camp in the appropriately named "Windy Gully". (This helicopter crashed rather badly two days later.)
