Professor Carol Wicks' Research

Maramec Spring, Missouri

Maramec Spring is the fifth largest spring in Missouri and has a drainage basin of about 850 km2. The spring is one location where ground water from the Ozark Plateau Aquifer discharges at the land surface.

Professor Carol Wicks and the Ecohydrology Research Group are predicting the physical and chemical response of the large karstic basin to recharge events. In addition, they are working to understand the stresses impose on the animals that reside in the aquifer during recharge and contaminant transport events.
