Buildings and Directions
The Geological Sciences Building houses the main office, faculty offices, lecture hall, classrooms, and research labs.
Driving: From I70 exit 126 and head south on Providence (2 miles). At 2nd light after Broadway, turn left onto Elm Street. Continue along Elm, past Peace Park and turn right onto Circle Drive. Our building is the first on Francis Quadrangle on the right.
Parking: We encourage looking for metered parking along 6th street. There is accessible parking in the lot behind the building. Alternatively visitor passes can be requested from Mizzou Parking and Transportation. Our closest multi-teir University Parking lot is located at Hitt Street.
Receiving Deliveries: There are two main points of entry and access: one off of S 6th Street (basement level) and the other via Circle Drive (8th Street Circle) on the first floor. The choice of entry will depend on the size of the delivery and the type of truck used. For deliveries requiring a forklift, it is important to coordinate with the shipping company to ensure delivery via a truck with a liftgate. If a pallet jack is needed, one is available at the loading dock. In most cases, deliveries will need to be made through the back parking lot, as using Circle Drive for deliveries requires prior campus approval. The pallet jack can be used to access the basement double door via the ramp. For larger packages, if the central door lock needs to be removed, maintenance should be contacted.
Please note that, due to the dog-leg road leading to the back parking lot, most larger trucks can only back into the parking lot next to McAlester Hall. In such cases, the shipment will likely need to be moved from there to the back entrance using the pallet jack.
