Eddie A. Williamson, 76, of Katy, Texas, passed away peacefully at home April 16, 2023. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Although born in Seattle, Washington, Eddie grew up in the Houston area, graduating from Jesse Jones Senior High School in 1964. He earned his Bachelor of Science at the University of Texas-Austin and was a member of the Alpha Chi Sigma fraternity. As a member of the Eighth Army, he attained the rank of SP5, serving in Korea as a medic. After the Army, he attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, earning his Master of Arts in Geology. In the Geology Department Library, he met his future wife, Connie. They married in 1973, and then he worked with Amoco Production Company until his retirement. Eddie enjoyed volunteering as an umpire for youth baseball and softball, collecting rocks and minerals, astronomy, and especially serving on leadership boards at the University of Missouri-Columbia for 38 years. Under his leadership of the UMC Geology Development Board, the Geology Field Camp was awarded #1 in the United States, as well as other significant improvements in the Department of Arts & Science. He also enjoyed sharing conversations inspired by his Eighth Army cap.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents W.A. "Andy" and Margaret (Evans) Williamson. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Connie, children Andy and Laura Williamson, grandchildren Ethan and Samantha Williamson and John Norman and great-granddaughter Channing Williamson.
