Columbia, Mo. (May 20, 2016) – The Department of Geological Sciences is delighted to host the thirteenth PACROFI conference at the University of Missouri from May 24-26, 2016.

The biennial PACROFI (Pan-American Current Research on Fluid Inclusions) conference series has been a leading international forum for the presentation of research on fluid and melt inclusions. We anticipate a vibrant meeting of ~ 70 researchers from academia, industry, and government.

The organizing committee at MU includes Profs. Martin Appold, Kevin Shelton and Peter Nabelek of the Department of Geological Sciences. A pre-conference short course entitled “The Right Tool for the Job: Fluid Inclusion Applications to Research on Diagenetic Systems” will be presented by Prof. Robert Goldstein of the University of Kansas. A two and a half day post-meeting field trip to see Cambrian sedimentary rocks and Precambrian igneous rocks of southeast Missouri will be led by Kevin Shelton (MU) and Cheryl Seeger (Missouri Department of Natural Resources). A highlight of the trip will be an underground visit to the Doe Run Company’s Brushy Creek mine.
